Central Cell is our attempt at pulling together the wonderful young people of Aylesbury along with their youth leaders and volunteers, every week. We’re imagining the local church working as one body to create a thriving Christian youth community that nurtures the faith of our teenagers and provides a context for their peers to come and see what it means to follow Christ. We think this will work best if the youth leaders of the town are one team, working with and for one another.
What is it?

- We’re inviting 9 local churches to change the way their youth discipleship is delivered.
- Instead of youth groups meeting separately each week, we’re inviting all the youth cell groups to meet together in one central location every week. This includes the paid and voluntary youth leaders across the churches and all the young people.
- It will take place in a neutral location (not a church or a school) and will have a focus on exploring the Bible, praying together and creating community. It would be running with the assumption that young people who have no connection with church would be joining us.
- Other contexts would exist across the town throughout the year including Connect groups, Unite, social spaces in local churches and joined up socials 3 times a year. With the blessing of their church, paid and voluntary youth leaders will work together to deliver these.
- This has been designed to be impossible without the local church. AVYFC are not encouraging anyone to ‘outsource’ their youth work.
- On a Sunday morning, youth leaders will run their own youth programmes as normal and we’ll be encouraging young people at Central Cell to be stuck into their own church each Sunday.
